The Meat and Potatoes

I used to work a day job that allowed me to build cool stuff, work with amazing people, and wear a t-shirt and shorts while doing it. When I went home, I would write stories.

I like stories.

Pop the hood, check out the NGEN

Anyways, one day while I was typing away at my normal day job I hear Chris Chicago (‘you mean the guy on” Yes. That Chris Chicago) on NGEN Radio tell this INSANE story from when he drove for Uber back when he lived in Nashville (before his rise to fame as the NGEN Program Director). The story goes like this: Chris gets a call to a shady street that ends in a forest. He takes one look at it, things about his fam, and opts to bail. But I couldn’t stop thinking what if he went through with it???

Anyways, I asked if I could use the story via eMails, he said yes, and the Tweets flew like this:

It was REALLY fun to create a story around a DJ I spent a LOT of time with (…so maybe there was a time in my life when I could have told you ALL of the radio show host’s schedules, not because I’m a stalker, but because I would literally listen from 8 AM to 11 PM working on code or writing stories).

Write a story (yay!)! It will be fun (it was)! You could probably do it in a month (LIES!)!

You need to understand something about me: I take writer-ing v. seriously. Capital V.

Like…I wrote a first draft, edited all of the tar out of it, put it in a centrifuge, and then sent it to a smattering of beta readers. Then I re-wrote it. Twice (maybe…I don’t remember).

The point is: it ended up taking me a year to write the gol-dern-gosh thing and in the end I had to go “YOU KNOW WHAT!?? IT’S GOOD. YEAH I COULD PROLLY MAKE IT BETTER, BUT IT’S GOOD!”

Do you want to read a short story set in the Marvel MCU featuring Chris Chicago and his super-hero origin story!??

Read on my friend. And…

If you love it? Tell me! Follow me! I’ll be thrilled!
And if you don’t? Just remember I’m fragile. AND ART IS HARD K!?

Enough of me rambling (kinda wished you scrolled to the bottom to begin with huh?)
Here’s the cool pic:

And here’s the .zip file with the PDF, the Kindle, and the Nook versions on it 🙂

All I ask in return

Is for you to tell me what to do.
What do I write about? What do you want to hear more of? What would make this site WAY cooler!?

You would do this via the surveys I send out over my email list.

Do I read all of the responses? YES.
Do I really care about what people say in those surveys? YES.
Has it kept me up at night? YES AND YES!

You know the drill:
